Curacao Beach Rugby Tournament
Your Rugby Club is officially invited by the "Netherlands Antilles Rugby Federation" to compete in our Bavaria Beach Rugby Tournament on April 3rd 2010.
This will be the first international Beach Rugby Tournament Held in Curacao and will have different teams participating from Curacao and Aruba.
The group Social Rugby will have at least 2 university teams(mixed) competing, who have only recently started to learn about rugby, and we will have a local Youth team competing as well as teams made of friends and relatives who are interested in rugby.
The group Semi-pro will have 2 local clubs participating, Wara Wara Curacao Rugby Club and Curacao Students Rugby Club. A team from Aruba and an American team from the Airforce base in Curacao. This group will consist of rugby players(male) only. Teams from Venezuela still have to confirm their participation.
The tournament will have a big impact on the small local community here in Curacao. Rugby is not widely played yet in Curacao, but this is about to change! The tournament sponsored by Bavaria(beer) and Holiday Beach Hotel and Casino. The tournament will be played on the beach in front of the hotel. Radio will have live reports from the tournament.
A team will consist of 7 - 12 players with constantly 5 players on the field. The games will be played according to IRB-beach rugby rules.
